Minnie’s Dried Fruits & Vegetables was founded in 2010 in Egypt to produce high quality dried fruits & vegetables and to provide training and employment opportunities for underprivileged women in rural areas throughout the country.
The first solar drying project was launched in Dahshour, Giza relying solely on solar energy and local products and labor. The packaging of the product is recyclable and the carbon footprint of the project is minimal.
The products are seasonal based on what’s available locally. Only fruit and vegetables of high quality that conform to safe agriculture standards are selected. The dried products are 100% natural: no sugar added, no chemicals, no preservatives and no flavor enhancers of any kind. Because of the drying technique used, the nutritional value of their products remains very high as nothing is lost in processing. The women they train work in a safe and hygienic environment and handle foods with utmost care under their strict sanitary policy.
Dried fruits are tasty, healthy snacks for kids and adults too. They are great in lunch boxes, in the car, on a trip, or while watching TV. They can be added to salads, soups, in baking, and for party dips. The dried vegetables are used in cooking or can be eaten as snacks straight out of the bag!
